Overview
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Loader Operator to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for safely and efficiently operating wheel loaders equipped with specialized pipe grapples to handle and stage large pipe sections (40-foot lengths of 48-inch, 25WT pipe) to support fabrication and construction operations.
Experience:
- Loader operation: 3 years (required)
Licence/Certification:
- Valid equipment operator certification (preferred)

Duties
- Display a commitment to Academy’s safety program, values, and culture.
- Follow Academy’s operating standards and procedures.
- Safely set up and operate wheel loaders with pipe grapples to load, unload, and stage materials as per specifications.
- Conduct daily pre- and post-operation inspections of equipment and report maintenance needs.
- Maintain inspection records and complete associated paperwork as required.
- Troubleshoot equipment issues and report to internal maintenance before escalating to third-party repairs.
- Operate tools and equipment including overhead cranes, grinders, and other support equipment as needed.
- Maintain good housekeeping in the work area.
- Attend daily toolbox meetings.
- Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
Experience
- Experience: Minimum 3 years operating wheel loaders, with expertise in handling large pipe sections using pipe grapples.
- Certification: Valid equipment operator certification in Alberta (or equivalent); CSTS-09 certification and WHMIS are assets.
- Knowledge: Familiarity with 40-foot lengths of 48-inch, 25WT pipe and general understanding of metal material handling.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Positive, motivated, and hardworking with strong communication skills.
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule.
Physical Requirements
The incumbent is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: viewing weld specifications for extended periods of time; and extensive reading. The incumbent is also required to stand and sit for extended periods of time and will require good physical attributes for walking on uneven ground, climbing, confined space entry, limited lifting, and sitting.

Pay: $28.00-$35.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 – 50 per week
