Vernon Pipe Cutting CNC Operator

Overview
The Vernon Machine Operator is responsible for ensuring accurate profiling of pipe material prior to being sent for fabrication.

Before Applying: 

• Are you able/willing to work straight nights?
• Knowledge of Metals; uses of metals, alloys and other materials
• Familiarity with the metric measurements

Experience:

• Machinery Operating: 2 years (required)
• CNC pipe cutting: 3 years (required)

Duties

• Displays a commitment to Academy’s safety program, values, and culture
• Follow Academy’s operating standards and procedures
• Safe set up and operation of automated machinery
• Cut and prepare pipe for fabrication as per specifications
• Complete associated paperwork as required
• Operate tools and equipment including overhead cranes, grinders, buffers, and tiger torches
• Perform daily and regular routine maintenance and inspections of machinery
• Maintain Inspection records
• Troubleshoot and call for repairs internally before reaching out to 3rd party
• Maintain good housekeeping in work area
• Attend daily tool box meetings
• Wear appropriate personal protective equipment at all times

Experience

• 1-2 Years’ Experience with operating machinery
• Experience using overhead crane
• Knowledge of Metals; uses of metals, alloys and other materials
• Familiarity with the metric measurements
• CSTS – 09 certification
• WHIMIS is an asset
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Positive, outgoing, motivated and hardworking
• The ability to communicate professionally with people at all levels
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule

Physical Requirements

The incumbent is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: viewing weld specifications for extended periods of time; and extensive reading. The incumbent is also required to stand and sit for extended periods of time and will require good physical attributes for walking on uneven ground, climbing, confined space entry, limited lifting, and sitting.
